Summer is now in full swing, and although the sun may be shining, full time internships and odd jobs on the weekend have not left much time for catching rays. On top of that, my dermatologist aunt cringes any time I mention going to the beach to “get tan.” With my fair complexion I am more likely to turn a nice shade of beet red, rather than this “tan” color that everyone raves about. So what are us pale girls supposed to do when it comes time to crack out those short shorts? Well, us stylistas aren’t just stylish… we’re smart too! Instead of baking in the sun or a tanning bed, I head straight for my beauty supply store and find my favorite go-to summer tan in a can.
It is the Self Tanning Micro Mist by Sun Laboratories. It works perfectly for my fellow pale stylistas 1.) because of the college budget friendly price of around $13 and 2.) because its’ brown tint allows you to see where you have already applied the spray, making the application virtually foolproof. I spray it directly to my skin and then buff it in with a tanning mitt that you can purchase at any beauty supply store for around $5. I have passed along this secret to a few of my sisters and they have agreed that this is the best self tanner they have used. It leaves a surprisingly natural looking glow, without the dangers that come with baking in the sun.
On a side note, this tanner works wonders during the long Binghamton winter as well ;)
