4 Makeup Essentials That Are Actually Worth Your Time and Money

Let me start off by saying that I’m not the type of girl who is crazy good at doing makeup. I was actually sort of bad at it. It wasn’t until recently that I decided to get my act together, go to Sephora and get some advice, and watch a lot of YouTube videos. Over the past months, I’ve invested in a few different products that I am now absolutely in love with, and they’ve changed my makeup routine forever. Take a look!

1. Urban Decay Naked2 eyeshadow palette.

Everyone has been raving about the variety of Naked palettes out on the market now, but they are no joke. I never wore eyeshadow outside of special occasions before I bought this bad boy. There are so many combinations you can create from the palette, and it’s hard to mess up. After a few YouTube videos to get an idea of what I was doing, I was good to go. I wear it every day, and I even bought my mom one because she loved it, too.

2. e.l.f. (Eyes Lips Face) eye primer.

I had spent many years being frustrated at my eyeliner and shadows because all I would do is reapply it. It always faded so fast and was definitely not long lasting. So I finally decided to invest in an eyelid primer. This changed everything. It’s so easy to apply on your eyelids, and the e.l.f. brand primer I use is very affordable ($3 at Walmart, I bought the eye primer and liner sealer combo). I can definitely tell the difference when I forget to use it because my eye makeup will look awful if I don’t. I’m always weary when buying cheap beauty products and whether the quality still meets my expectations, but this exceeds them.

3. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner.

When I went into Sephora, I asked one of the employees to help me find eyeliner that doesn’t smudge and is long lasting. A lot of products say that, but this actually lives up to it. It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it. I always used to use Mary Kay eyeliner, but after switching to Aqua Eyes, I can’t go back. Combining this creamy pencil eyeliner with the Naked2 and eye primer is a wonderful combination.

4. Sephora’s Contouring 101 Palette.

I jumped on the contouring train, and after taking some time to practice it, I could see why it was gaining popularity. This palette makes it really easy to contour your face to your liking, and it even comes with a little instruction guide of which colors to put where on your face. Contouring is great for a night out or even if you just want a little more definition to your features. Coming from someone who is not gifted in the makeup department, this palette worked great for me.
