Um… because we’re multifaceted, larger-than-life, complicated, busy, passionate, interesting people?
At least for me, I’m a pianist, ex-figure skater, student, researcher, lazy potato, sorority girl, and stylista - and there’s definitely not one wardrobe that contains them all!
And NO ONE is gonna tell me what to wear.
These themes range from typical to fairly outrageous (s/o to “school teachers and mythical creatures”). Above is me and my real life little sister at her Bid Day Mixer - librarians and barbarians!
Because who doesn’t love an ugly Christmas sweater?
Fun fact - I wore this same sweater three weeks later, when I met my beautiful big for the first time!
Probably the smartest choice I ever made was deciding on a sport that allows - nay, necessitates that - you wear tight-fitting, jewel-encrusted dresses.
That year, I skated to music from the Mask of Zorro for my long program - and I looked FIERCE in my custom-made dress. Now that I’m old and broken and only teach instead of compete, it’s sitting in my closet. Can anyone say halloween costume?
Nailing that double axel. Take that, judges! Check out the hair bling too.
My skating outfits (at least, my training clothes) also doubled as hiking apparel!
Who says you need a different outfit for every event? I wore this gorgeous gown to my skating club’s 100th anniversary ball, my high school prom, performing at Carnegie Hall, and**** the Celebrity Series’s Art of Performance Gala!
Workin’ the dance floor at the Skater’s Ball for the Skating Club of Boston!
Plus, being featured in the Boston Globe didn’t hurt :P
Plus a close-up of that crazy, bejeweled top - and that make-up! S/o to MAC for working miracles.
Nothing like a gown to bring a little flair to the stage!
And classin’ it up on the dance floor with the boyfriend as guests at the Celebrity Series of Boston’s Art of Performance Gala!
Because who said we need to dress it up all the time?
Though my mom probably regrets buying this for me, my onesie is a staple!
Plus, oversize sweaters = <3
Whether it’s working an event, teaching, or doing research in a lab, an outfit has to be functional, not just fashionable!
Working in a lab doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice fashion. Throw on a lab coat over this dress and I’m good to go!
Between house formals, year formals, club formals, and (obviously) sorority formals, there are so many opportunities to show off your style and wear what you want! Here are two of my favorite dresses:
Rockin’ peplum and silver glittery heels with the sisters at Lowell House’s winter Yule Ball
Kappa Kappa Gamma and Alpha Phi take Eliot House’s Spring Formal: Fête!
Extra extra - rep your school and your sorority at the same time! Check the background of these awesome A-Phi Yardfest tanks:
And always, ALWAYS, live that srat life.
I could keep going - what to wear abroad, Newport/Hamptons style, Friday night grind, day dresses, dates - but y’all get the point. Every girl, every occasion, every style. All girls should wear what they want. I mean, is it even a question?
