Hello stylistas! I have been a little MIA this summer but that is because I have been having too much fun turning 21. As any sorority girl knows, 21st birthdays are a HUGE deal in college. And if I’m not mistaken, a young woman’s three most important outfits in life are:
1. Wedding Dress, 2. Senior Prom Dress, and 3. 21st Birthday Dress.
If any of you are lucky enough to have a summer birthday like me, you know celebrating the event more than once is a necessity. I had many nights to celebrate and that means multiple outfits to dress to impress.
I celebrated my birthday with my family in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. I made sure I was keeping up with the latest trends, like mixing prints in my bikini and rocking a floppy hat while celebrating in the sunshine.
When I got home from the South, I celebrated with my friends from my hometown in Denver which I figured would be my most dressed up night on the town. My pink birthday girl dress had the perfect amount of glitz and glam with the silver embellishments around the neck and waist. And what a deal it was at Forever 21! I paired it with glam sandals because I figured heels may be too difficult to conquer on a 21st birthday night downtown. I was so lucky that some of my Chi O sisters were able to make it to this night too. They made me feel so special with some of CSU traditions like hanging signs and 21st birthday paddles!
I also went up to Fort Collins, my college town, to celebrate 21 the next weekend. I wore a purple bow crop top from reddressboutique.com (one of my favorite online shopping destinations!) and a black high-low skirt from PacSun. I felt like a Birthday Present in this outfit and it was my favorite outfit to wear while celebrating my birthday!
If you have a 21st birthday coming up, spend time looking for that perfect dress that screams “I am the Birthday Girl!” There are so many fabulous online boutiques with great options to create a glitzy and trendy outfit for your special night or nights!
If you are reading this and have a BFF who is turning 21 soon, I included some pictures that would help for gift ideas! My friends were amazing and so creative! You could make 21 paddles, who doesn’t love a sorority paddle?! I was so blessed with 4 beautiful paddles from some of my best friends. You could make a shot book/scrap-book with all of your college memories up to this point, my Chi O roommate made this for me, and lets face it I cried. Some of my closest friends from my hometown that go back ten years, made me the cutest Happy Birthday Rope of Shots! It was just a coincidence that Happy 21st Birthday Abbey! fit onto 21 shots perfectly. A decorated wine or martini glass is also a great gift for your BFF’s 21st birthday.
Don’t forget, you only turn 21 once. Put together an outfit that makes you stand out from the rest, and don’t stop celebrating this exciting birthday that only lasts one year! And if it is your friend’s 21st, make it as special for her as possible! This is probably the most exciting birthday in every persons life so make it count stylistas!
