The Short Story: Prints for Summer

Even though I’m partly in disbelief that I’m halfway done my college career, I’m relieved that spring semester is over. That means summer has officially started and I can finally relax!

With all my free time I’ve been doing a bit of shopping. Lately I’ve been noticing lots of bold prints in stores: shorts, tops, dresses, you name it. I especially like high-waisted printed shorts because they’re easy to throw on, and all you have to do is pair them with a crop top and you’re done! These shorts are easy to incorporate into your wardrobe for summer and the way I see it, the bolder the better! During summer the sun is brighter, the sky bluer, and the colors more vibrant – so take cues from nature and have fun with bright, bold prints.

To dress up printed shorts, add a statement necklace and/or wedges, and you have an instant day-to-night outfit! The best thing about most of these shorts is that they’re flowy and made of a very light fabric – perfect for hot summer days.

I usually stick with solid colored tops to balance out the patterns, but mixing patterns can be done successfully if one print is plain or has neutral colors. An example of this would be floral printed shorts and a basic black-and-white-striped shirt.

Any way you wear them, you’re sure to look ready for summer.
