This year the fraternity of Kappa Kappa Gamma celebrates her 143rd birthday and as a celebration of our founders Eta Eta chapter put on a brunch at our home. The suggested attire was “Sunday’s Best” and as one can imagine there was a slew of colored dresses and wedges.
Unfortunately in Florida we don’t quite have the dramatic season change that many Northern states get to enjoy. However, as the sun shines outside my window and I know that it’s somewhere in the high 80’s outside it’s still nice to know that it’s autumn somewhere.
So just to get this out in the open I decided on a very out of season white dress… I know, I know no while after Labor Day but I love this dress and haven’t gotten a chance to wear it so I figured there was no better time than the present. Plus it has a super stylish open back so there’s that! I paired my dress with camel colored wedges and of course my little golden key.
My favorite dress though was probably a mint long sleeved dress from the ever so popular Toby. It’s in season enough to work in October but still bright and perfect for the occasion. I think that is the perfect combination and everything one can ask for in an outfit that needs to try to be fall ready but still realistic in 80-degree weather.
Making pieces of your wardrobe work for all times of the year and every season is difficult but so much easier on the wallet and convenient for the ever-shrinking amount of closet space I seem to have.
Happy Founder’s Day to all of my fellow Kappas out there! 143 years has never looked so good!
