I know, I know, October is already halfway over but there is still plenty of time left in this glorious month of the Basic White Girl! A Basic White Girl (BWG) can be identified by their leggings, riding boots, monogrammed vests, and Starbucks drink in hand. You’ve probably seen this rare species come out in flocks over the last couple of weeks. Now, I’m not judging because I can identify with this group all year long in some way, shape, or form. Basic White Girls thrive in the fall, especially October because this is their season to really come alive. We’re not hard to please when it comes to fun, festive activities so here’s a list to get you started. When your BWG thinks that you’re “totes adorbs”, you can thank me later.
The pumpkin patch is a basic white girl’s playground once October rolls around. You have to let her find the absolute perfect pumpkin to paint free-hand Lilly on or to monogram. Probably both. She’ll spend a minimum of twenty minutes deciding between three or more pumpkins to which she’ll pick none of them and go for the cute mini pumpkins instead. If your local pumpkin patch is really cool it will have hot cider and a corn maze. You’ll most likely need to take her through the corn maze with a hot apple cider in hand or all hell will break loose.
You already know exactly what I’m talking about. You’ll be in charge of taking 250+ “candid” photos of your basic white girl and her basic friends doing things five-year-olds would do like playing in the leaves. They are in their zone though so don’t complain when they all yell “just keep taking pictures!!!” at the same time. They have to get the “best” one and I literally mean they will select one, maybe two, to edit the heck out of and plaster all over Instagram using the caption “I love fall! Living. #Live. ?”
Even if your basic white girl doesn’t like Pumpkin Spice Lattes any other month out of the year, they’ll “LOVE” them in October. Personally, I’m not a fan of PSL but I try to like them one time a year during the month of October. It’s like a fall tradition or something. So, why not feed her craving with a Grande non-fat PSL made with soy milk? Deliver this festive drink to her in front of all of her basic friends so they can be jealous and wish they had someone like you in their life.
Every so often, BBW will have an incredible sale on their overpriced 3-wick candles. RUN, don’t walk, to Bath and Body Works. Grab all of the fall scents, yes, ALL of them. Autumn, Leaves, Sweater Weather, Pumpkin Apple, Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles – just to name a few. Don’t forget to use a 20% off coupon though because your BWG is all about saving money, you know. Her home and office will smell like fall all year long and she’ll never get sick of it. You’ll be a hero or some sort.
If you’re lucky enough to live in a state that has a beautiful fall, you’ll know what I’m talking about. A color tour is a mapped route to ensure that you see the most gorgeous colors of the season. The leaves change colors over the course of a three week period painting the most magnificent views you’ll ever see. The best part is that you don’t have to be a BWG to appreciate the beauty; it’s a win for everyone involved. Fall in northern Michigan is something I strongly suggest everyone has the opportunity to experience at least once in their life – hit up Traverse City and the surrounding area the second or third week in October and you’ll be glad you did.
And there you have it, a list of fun, easy activities to keep you BWG (or anyone for that matter) happy this October. Of course, these are just a few ways you could do to keep your BWG happy as a peach this fall. Feel free to add to my list or create a list of your own. Be creative and have fun!
