Sigma Kappa Sorority takes part in five different philanthropies. This month our main focus here at Clemson University was the Alzheimer’s disease. During the month of October, the girls of Sigma Kappa at Clemson all attend a local walk for Alzheimer’s. We walk to raise awareness of the disease and help raise money that can be used to soon find a cure for Alzheimer’s. Last year my sorority was honored to receive the award of being the organization that donated the most amount of money to the walk. This year we hope to do the same. At the walk each person receives a certain color flower. A garden is made of the flowers to show support for people who have Alzheimer’s, people who know someone going through Alzheimer’s or people who lost someone due to the disease.
The walk is a great way to spread awareness, especially when doing it with your sisters! It was not only a great cause, but also so much fun! They had a person making balloon animals and hats for everyone which made it even better!
This is my chapter after the walk. We all had the greatest time and can’t wait to for the walk again next year!
