A vital part of any sorority is its philanthropy. Recently the sisters of Sigma Kappa Kappa Mu decided to create a brand new event for their philanthropy, Alzheimer’s awareness. Currently, over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and we thought it was necessary for Duquesne’s campus to become more aware of this disease.
At 8 o’clock on a Friday night, members from various sororities and fraternities flooded Duquesne’s Power Center to compete in the first ever UltraViolet Challenge. This first ever awake-a-thon included challenges such as dodge ball, tug-of-war, and trivia and all proceeds benefitted those suffering from Alzheimer’s.
At the end of the night, the brothers of Sigma Tau Gamma prevailed as the challenge winners. However, it was obvious that everyone had a great time and this event was a success. What events does your sorority organize for your philanthropy? Are there any new twists you can put on an old event? What’s the most creative event you’ve ever been to or been a part of?
