We all know someone who has battled breast cancer, is battling currently, or will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime.
High Point University’s very own Delta Gamma chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha held their annual Think Pink Week from October 5th-12th. Think Pink Week is a week filled with philanthropic events held by their chapter in order to spread awareness about breast cancer and to help educate others.
The theme was to “Kiss Away Cancer” with Zeta Tau Alpha which was displayed beautifully on a large pink banner throughout the week at philanthropy tables.
To get the week started, ZTA sisters passed out pink lemonade to High Point University students and staff- to literally get everyone’s juices flowing and to get them thinking about the cause. Sisters then took over the university’s campus by passing out lollipops while educating students about Think Pink Week and how they can support the fight for a cure. Keeping the spirit alive; ZTA sisters encouraged High Point University to wear pink for a school wide “Pink-Out” and handed out pink ZTA breast cancer ribbon pins. The Delta Gamma chapter then was found at the HPU Men’s Soccer Game to support the PINK-game (all the sisters were found sporting their pinks) where they also handed out pink ZTA breast cancer ribbon pins to students, faculty, and families in attendance. Continuing the week, pink hair extensions were available to students to purchase and have done by the fabulous Avanti Hair Salon. Avanti was generous enough to help support Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy and they donated $5.00 of each purchase to Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Throughout the entire week there was an option to purchase flowers in honor of someone who’s fought, is fighting, or has lost the battle to breast cancer- those people were to be honored at Seeds for Hope at the end of the week. ZTA hosted Seeds for Hope as their final philanthropic event for the week where a moving and beautiful service took place in honor of those affected by breast cancer. A special thank you to Dr. and Mrs. Qubein who came to show their support.
Not only did the Delta Gamma chapter take over the High Point University campus with philanthropic events during Think Pink Week- they took over social media too. Sisters from the chapter had a photo shoot at the beginning of the week posing with pink ZTA letters and a chalk board with the words, “Fighing For A Cure Until PINK Is Just Another Color – Zeta Tau Alpha”. The sisters all changed their Facebook profile pictures to support breast cancer awareness and education.
ZTA was thankful to have received help from many other Greek organizations during Think Pink Week, especially “Paint the Village Pink”- a fun competition to see who could decorate their house in pink to support the cause. Congratulations are in order for Alpha Gamma Delta for winning!
The Delta Gamma chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha fights to raise Breast Cancer Awareness every single day, but their Think Pink Week 2015 was exceptionally beautiful and moving.
